Fägfüür takes place in a bar, a neighborhood bar where everybody is in each other’s business. The 5 characters have known each other since they were kids: Murk, the humorless taciturn bartender, April/Anni – a lost soul asleep on her stool, Denise Savage/Wild – “small, wild-haired, strong, belligerent, determined, dissatisfied and scared. She is in pain, paranoid, and full of hunger. She has hungry ears.” Then there is Linda Rotunda, promiscuous and sad, in love with Tony Aronica, the “streamlined Italian stud with a streak of self-doubt and a yearning sweetness”. They’re 32 and life should begin. But how?
